HOW TO PLAY BEKELAN

I'm Monika Rio Apriana, NPM 16321028. I will explain about one of the traditional games in Indonesia.  Do you ever hear bekelen? Bekelean is originated from West Java.

Bekelen are usually played by two people or more than two people alternately. This game is more often played by girls, but not possible if boys also play bekelan. Bekelan is a type of a competition game.

The Tools needed to play bekelan:

1. Small ball.

2. Five kecik. This kecik has 4 sides.

3. The game requires is a flat surface area such as ceramics.

The rules of the bekelan:

1. Should not touch another kecik besides the session.

2. Should not use 2 hands in holding all the kecik.

3. If the player when spreading kecik, all is facing up / the term "mlumah" or all of them facing down / the term "buk", then have to repeat from the beginning.

4. May take a smaller margin, then the required amount. Such as session 5 kecik, 2 pieces of kecik taken at the beginning, then 3 kecik.

Player tunover caused by:

1. The ball is not caught.

2. Kecik in falling grip.

3. Gudir is when the hand touches another kecik besides the session.

But for this rules of this games, every region maybe different, only the game will run in accordance with the player agreement.

How to play bekelan is after the ball dropped and bounced, the kecik were dropped. Throw the ball again, then we take the bekel one by one, two-two, three-three, until it done.

In this game have 5 level, after the player take the kecik one by one until dones, player must next the level is often called tengkurep, and level 3 often called ngadek, level 4 mlumah, and level 5 buk. Per level with the same rules like the first session, we must take one by one, two by two, until done. and the last level often called nasgopel. 

The last stage is called nasgopel. At this stage the child is required to expose the entire position of the bekel beans to the top. Then confront all the bekel seeds down. After that, the child must scoop all of the bekel beans with one grip. Rakes can be done by two hands. If the child can not scoop all the beans, then the child is declared defeated.
